The Science (and the Truth) Behind Our Ingredients

Nutrition science is both fascinating and flawed. The “rules” we still lean on today—like how we count calories—trace back to Wilbur Atwater’s experiments in the 1890s. Groundbreaking for its time, but crude by today’s standards. Two foods with the same calories on paper can have entirely different effects in your body. That’s the reality.

Research itself isn’t perfect either. Much of what makes headlines comes from food frequency questionnaires—asking people to remember what they ate last week, last month, or even last year. Useful at scale, but hardly precision science. Add in the fact that industries often fund and frame studies to protect their own interests, and you get the messy, cherry-picked “proof” that props up most nutrition marketing.

We don’t play that game.

At FlowRebels, we hold ourselves to a higher standard:

No cherry-picking. We cite systematic reviews and credible trials—not one-off studies that fit a story. Where the evidence is mixed, we say so.

Whole-system thinking. Ingredients don’t work in isolation. We design blends that support the Gut → Brain → Behaviour pathway—the central axis of resilience, focus, and performance.

Radical transparency. Every ingredient, every form, every amount—we publish it, and we link to the science behind it.

Why Gut → Brain → Behaviour?

Because it’s not just about fuelling muscles or counting macros. The gut is where nutrient signals and microbial metabolites are produced. The brain interprets those signals—driving clarity, focus, and mood. Behaviour is the outcome: the choices, energy, and resilience you bring to your life and work.

Our formulations are built to optimise that pathway. Prebiotic fibres and polyphenols that nourish the microbiome. Neuro-nutrients that cross the blood–brain barrier to support cognition and calm. Antioxidants and adaptogens that reduce stress and extend resilience.

This isn’t about chasing fads. It’s about designing nutrition that works with your biology to unlock better states—more energy, sharper focus, deeper rest.

Scroll down and you’ll find every ingredient in Go and Sound—alphabetised, explained in plain language, and linked to the latest research. Where the science is strong, we stand on it. Where it’s early or uncertain, we’re upfront.

That’s the FlowRebels way: less noise, more signal.
